Jolie Weingeroff, Ph.D.
Co-Founder and Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University, and received additional training and experience at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, as a pre-doctoral intern. After my internship, I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at CBT/DBT Associates in NYC, and worked in a variety of treatment settings as a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Therapist and Staff Psychologist. I previously held Faculty Appointments at Boston University and Harvard Medical School. I have also published and presented my research on eating disorders treatment and the course of borderline personality disorder (BPD) and comorbid disorders in peer-reviewed journals and at national and international conferences. My pronouns are she/her/hers.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in New York and Rhode Island. I provide individual therapy to older adolescents and adults. I have advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My areas of specialization include anxiety, eating disorders, LGBTQIA-affirming therapy, and working with students and individuals in academia. Therapy with those in academic settings often focuses on managing anxiety, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, burn out, publishing pressure, and over-identifying with one’s achievements or career. I am intensively trained in DBT and I frequently work with my clients to develop skills to manage their emotions, improve self-esteem, and work on difficulties in relationships. In addition, I incorporate strategies from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness based approaches into my work. My style is direct, active, and flexible, with a focus on what works for each individual client.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of treatment. As such, I maintain a validating environment to explore and develop a shared understanding of what brings my clients to therapy and how we can work together to accomplish specific goals. My clients describe me as authentic and able to challenge them in a respectful and caring manner, sometimes while using humor. My hope is for each client I work with to find and express their authentic selves.
I appreciate how challenging the process of change can be and have a great deal of respect for anyone seeking treatment. It is a privilege to accompany my clients on their process of self-discovery and growth, and see them achieve a sense of confidence in themselves, satisfaction with their life, and greater fulfillment. I look forward to hearing from you so we can begin this important process together.
